My heart goes out to all of our 2020 seniors!

The current status of the Covid-19 stay at home order has definitely put a damper in our plans for spring, but I am optimistic that we will all be getting back to our routines soon. In the interim, I am currently scheduling portrait sessions beginning May 30, 2020. All previously scheduled clients should have received a notice to select a new date. If you have not yet selected your new date, feel free to reach out at your convenience, as I am readily available at my home office and working in my PJ's! The Deposit has been suspended for all bookings. Your session fee will be payable 1 week prior to your confirmed (fingers crossed) photoshoot. 

Until We Meet Again - DO IT YOURSELF PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

What better time to try a new hobby? Here are a few pro tips to get you started on taking great photos of your family.

Soft Light - Find some soft light to photograph in. This can be the shade of a building or a large tree. You can also go out at sunrise or just before sunset. The light will be warm and soft and give you some beautiful shadows.

Add Your Own Light - You can easily make a lighting reflector with some things around the house or from home depot. A large white piece of foam board will work wonders. Use the reflector to catch some light and bounce it onto your subject's face. Try to keep your reflector at an angle above the nose to avoid the creepy flashlight under the chin look. Experiment, play, have fun.

Go Long - If you have a long lens that you bought for sports or birding, anything over 70mm, now is the time to use it. That long lens will give you a softer background at it's widest aperture or f-stop. Just set your camera to aperture (f-stop) priority and give it a try.

Occasionally I get a call to retrieve previous year's images for special occasions (seniors, weddings, birthdays, engagements, etc). This is the time of year when I organize my digital files and make space for the images that will be coming on in the spring or summer as Covid-19 has affected scheduling. I will be removing all 2018 portrait sessions from my main and backup drives and shelving them to a single hard drive. Each year I give previous years clients the opportunity to purchase their entire digital collection for safekeeping.
